Articles on: Porting Phone Number

What document is required to port a phone number?

Don't want to give up your existing number? Well, do not worry. We have sorted out everything for you. All you need to do is port it to KrispCall.

We must follow some legal procedures. You must provide us with some important documents to carry out the porting process effectively and efficiently.

Documents required for porting

To port your existing phone number to Krisp Call's cloud telephony, first, you need to clear all the outstanding charges (if any) associated with the previous carrier. After that, you need to provide us with the following:

List of all the phone numbers you would like to bring to the cloud telephony platform.

The authorized user or owner's first and last name.

The corresponding service address.

Note: Please keep in mind that the address should be a verifiable physical address. PO Boxes will not be considered valid addresses

Old vendor details. It helps us to communicate with the previous vendor and ease the number porting process.

SIP details if you are switching from other VoIP telephony to KrispCall.

A Letter of Authorization (LOA), signed by the authorized user and/or owner of the number.

Note: The information on your LOA must be identical to the authorized user name and service address provided by your current carrier

The Customer Service Record (CSR)

Note: A Customer Service Record contains a scanned/electronic copy of the most recent phone bill, which includes the account, owner/authorized user name, and address information for all the numbers you'd like to port.

How long does it take to port a number?

Porting your telephone number is a six-step process that can take from two (2) to four (4) weeks, depending on the type of number you are porting and the country in which the number is located.

Don't worry - there's no service interruption. You can use your phone number up until the port date.

Here is how we can make it possible. We shall provide you with a new number for the porting window.

Now, the only thing you need to do before initiating the porting process is forward all your current calls to the new number provided by KrispCall.

Your inbound calls will remain undisturbed. And, for your outbound calls, we will mask the new number to appear as your old number, which settles everything as it was.

The person you are calling will receive a call from your old number. Simple as that.

And when the porting completes, you can resume communications from your old number.

Note: Don't cancel your account with your current provider until the port is done. Once the port is complete, you can close that account; otherwise, you risk service interruption.
