Compatible IP Phones and best practices
IP phones, also known as VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) phones, are communication devices that operate via an internet connection rather than traditional landline networks.
There are two main types of IP phones:
- Hardware IP Phones – Physical desk phones designed for VoIP use.
- Software IP Phones (Softphones) – Applications that run on computers or mobile devices, mimicking the functionality of physical phones.
At KrispCall, our platform is primarily built to deliver a proper calling experience through browser-based workspaces and mobile applications. However, we understand that some businesses prefer using hardware IP phones or softphones due to their familiarity, comfort, and existing workflows.
If you’re having trouble connecting or reconfiguring an existing IP phone with your KrispCall account, you're not alone. Many IP phones are pre-connected to the manufacturer’s provisioning servers at the time of purchase. When you attempt to configure them for KrispCall, these devices may periodically reset and revert to their original settings, thereby overriding your custom SIP configurations. This often leads to failed connectivity or incomplete setups.
Fortunately, this issue can be resolved. We’ll guide you through the process and recommend IP phones that are better suited for use with KrispCall. Stay tuned for device recommendations and best practices to ensure a smooth integration.
If you’re using any IP Phone and haven’t been able to configure it with your KrispCall account successfully, do reach out to our support team. We are always here to help you and guide you. Along those lines, listed below are some of the IP Phone Recommendations for you, which are compatible with KrispCall configuration:
Zoiper
To connect your KrispCall account with Zoiper SIP softphone, ensure that your SIP credentials are enabled on your KrispCall account. You can find your SIP credentials on your Krispcall account.
Go to Settings → VoIP numbers → Scroll down to Incoming Calls Strategy → SIP Deskphone.
Once there, you can find your SIP Domain, SIP Username, and SIP Password. With these details, you can manually connect your KrispCall account with Zoiper by entering the credentials manually in the Zoiper app under the "Account Settings" section.
Once the registration is complete, you can easily start making and receiving calls through KrispCall using the Zoiper phone.
Grandstream
Connecting KrispCall with a Grandstream IP phone, such as the GXP2130, requires having your KrispCall account's SIP credentials. Again, you can find your SIP credentials on your Krispcall account.
- Once you have your SIP credentials, connect your phone to your network and access its web interface using its IP address. (Menu → Status → Network Status → IPv4 Address).
- Use the default credentials to log in to the web interface. (Username: admin, Password: admin)
- Go to the Accounts section and enter these details:
- Account Name: Any name of your choice that you want to be displayed.
- SIP Server: Your KrispCall SIP Domain.
- Outbound Proxy: Same as SIP Domain.
- SIP User ID: Your KrispCall SIP User ID
- Authenticate ID: Same as SIP User ID.
- Authenticate Password: Your KrispCall SIP Password.
- Save and apply the configuration.
Finally, once your SIP registration status turns green and indicates 'yes', you will be able to make and receive calls using the Grandstream device via KrispCall.
Yealink T21P
Suppose you want to connect your KrispCall account with a Yealink IP phone. In that case, you may need to first remove the device from the RPS (Redirection and Provisioning Service) if it was already registered by the distributor when you purchased it.
To remove your device from the RPS, you’ll need to open the Yealink RPS portal and obtain a support ticket or directly contact your distributor to request that your device be removed or deregistered from the RPS system.
Once you’re notified that your device has been deregistered and the phone’s MAC (Media Access Control) address has been removed from the RPS, you can then manually connect the device with your KrispCall account using the SIP credentials.
